Arlington, Virginia, March 4, 2008 - Thomas & Herbert Consulting LLC (T&H), a leading provider of management and IT consulting services, announced today that Karen J. Miller, the Firm's Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) has been recognized by Washington SmartCEO Magazine as one of the National Capital Region's Top CFOs.
Washington SmartCEO sat down with an advisory board comprised of industry experts in the field of finance to vote on 10 CFOs who stand out from the rest. Ms. Miller's stellar performance at T&H places her on the Top 10 List!
Ms. Miller, who also serves as the Firm's General Counsel, is responsible for managing the Firm's Finance and Contracts Departments. Under Ms. Miller's leadership, sound financial policies and procedures have been established; a new accounting system, Deltek GCS Premier was implemented; and the Firm has been appraised by the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) at CMMI Level 3. These scalable financial and operational infrastructure improvements are designed to support measured future growth and have proven to be a prescription for the Firm's financial success. Ms. Miller and her team also developed the complex pricing proposals that yielded a 10-year, $4 billion procurement with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and a 6-year, $800 million procurement within an intelligence agency. Ms. Miller, a Certified Public Accountant, holds a BBA from The George Washington University and a Juris Doctorate from Georgetown University Law Center.
Ms. Miller stated, "I am humbled by this recognition, but must admit that it seems almost unjust to be acknowledged simply for doing a job that I truly enjoy."
Dedicated, grounded and humble are just a few of the words that Charmaine Morgan, Controller and Director of Finance and Administration, would use to describe Karen. "I have worked closely with Karen for five years and she continues to amaze me. During difficult times, she has been the voice of reason and has maintained her composure and resolve. She exemplifies the traits and qualities of a true leader through both her words and her actions. I am honored and blessed to have her as my friend and my mentor," said Ms. Morgan.
"Karen certainly deserves this recognition," said Saku J. Papino, Esq., Director of Contracts. "She is an impressive strategic thinker and inspires us all by her ability to comprehend complex concepts, multi-task with aplomb, and provide pertinent and timely guidance. I have learned a great deal from her and feel very fortunate to be able to work closely with her."
