BearingPoint and Thomas & Herbert Consulting Capture Department of Homeland Security's Mentor-Protégé Team Award

McLean, Va., June 30, 2005 - BearingPoint, Inc. (NYSE: BE), one of the world's largest business consulting and systems integration firms, today announced that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has awarded the company and its protégé, Thomas & Herbert Consulting, LLC (T&H), the first ever Mentor-Protégé Team Award for embracing the mentor-protégé principle of small business development. The award specifically recognizes BearingPoint's and T&H's work together on the DHS Integrated Terrorist Screening project.

The DHS Mentor-Protégé program encourages support of small business through shared resources. BearingPoint supported T&H in its successful 2004 bid for the DHS's Integrated Terrorist Screening contract. The five-year, $30 million project is centered on consolidating terrorist information and developing an approach to use that information.

As T&H's sponsor, BearingPoint's obligations include facilitating communications between T&H, DHS, and the Terrorist Screening Center (TSC); providing expertise on business process reengineering; policy development; and offering advice and support for developing artifacts (e.g. schedules, briefings, databases) and processes (e.g. Standard Operating Procedures, meeting management) that assist in T&H's interaction with the TSC and DHS Business Process Re-engineering Team.
