Health Case Study - Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC)
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is an independent federal regulatory agency that was created in 1972 by Congress in the Consumer Product Safety Act. They work to reduce the risk of injuries and deaths from consumer products by:
- Developing voluntary standards with industry
- Issuing and enforcing mandatory standards; banning consumer products if no standard would adequately protect the public
- Obtaining the recall of products and arranging for their repair, replacement or a refund
- Conducting research on potential product hazards
- Informing and educating consumers through the media, state and local governments, private organizations, and by responding to consumer inquiries.
Thomas & Herbert Consulting LLC (T&H) is successfully providing operations and maintenance support services to the Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) public websites (www.cpsc.gov), digital communication systems and related systems in accordance with the most up to date Web Standards. T&H is responsible for managing, operating and maintaining all CPSC web sites that are updated on a daily basis based on the number of notifications CPSC releases for the general public. These web sites exist in several environments that use multiple tools including EPiServer Content Management system, static HTML & XML, .Net , MS SharePoint, Visual Studio, Word Press, Lyris, ListServer, Webtrends, my SQL databases and the JW Video Player. A team of expert content editors manage the site content, design , build, code and implement site templates, forms, modules and Web graphics for multiple delivery formats (web browsers, mobile and tablet) and cross link the web content from multiple sites and sources ensuring seamless content integration and information flow across CPSC websites. We provide technical consulting and advisory services that have enable CPSC to enhance its technical and operational platforms while maintaining the desired security and performance standards. As a result of these advisory services, CPSC has identified newer and better means to integrate and distribute content across multiple platforms and websites. T&H is currently supporting implementation of some latest content management systems, mobile digital interactive tools and search engines to facilitate accurate and relevant content delivery to internal and external stakeholders.
