Enterprise Architecture

To transform the Government to one that is citizen-centered, results-oriented, and market-based, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) developed the Federal Enterprise Architecture (FEA), a business-based framework for government-wide improvement. The Department of Defense has developed the DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF) to define how to organize the specification of enterprise architectures for U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) business and applications. All major DoD weapons and information technology system procurements are required to document their enterprise architectures using the view products prescribed by the DoDAF.

In contrast to many failed "architecture" efforts in the past, the FEA and DODAF are entirely business-driven. This business-based foundation provides a common framework for improvement in a variety of key areas such as:

  • Budget Allocation

  • Information Sharing

  • Performance Measurement

  • Budget / Performance Integration

  • Cross-Agency Collaboration

  • E-Government

T&H's integrated enterprise planning approach that connects strategic planning, portfolio management, capital planning, EA, and project management create an actionable and meaningful planning framework for FEA and DODAF. Our methodology facilitates the strategic management of business and IT priorities and projects across the enterprise, and leverages the synergies between management disciplines to maximize strategic value and return on investment for Civil and Defense agencies.
